ANCHORAGE, Oct. 8, 2018 — Gubernatorial candidate Mike Dunleavy today received a highly significant endorsement from the Public Safety Employees Association (PSEA). The organization representing the men and women on the front line said they trust Dunleavy to put public safety first.

“It’s a great honor to have the support of the largest police union in the State of Alaska,” said Dunleavy.

PSEA represents state troopers and officers in the Department of Public Safety, the Airport police and Fire, as well as many municipal departments from Southeast Alaska to the interior and beyond.

“With Alaska suffering from an epidemic of criminal activity, it’s critical to make public safety priority number one on day one,” said Dunleavy. “In addition to other reforms, I look forward to working with public safety officers on addressing recruitment and retention problems. We must ensure our officers in harm’s way have the support they need to do their jobs effectively.”

PSEA Local 803 has represented Alaska law enforcement personnel in a variety of labor and employment matters at the State and municipal levels since 1978. PSEA is a leader in issues having a direct impact on Alaska public safety services.

PSEA membership includes: State Troopers; State Fish and Wildlife Protection Troopers; Airport Police and Fire Officers at the Anchorage and Fairbanks International Airports; Court Service Officers; Deputy Fire Marshals; Public Safety Employees of the City of Unalaska; Police Department Employees of Juneau, Sitka, Fairbanks, Ketchikan, Soldotna and Dillingham.
